Pain and his record company sent out cease-and-desist orders to put "Silver and Gold" on permanent pause, but its popularity was even greater than Pain's official first single, "Can't Believe It," during its initial launch.
"That pushed the single back, then we had to push the album back," Pain said. " 'Can't Believe It' was getting overtaken by 'Silver and Gold.' It was just a lot."
Rihanna opened the show with a spooky take on "Disturbia," preceded by a procession of zombies as she was rolled onto the stage in what looked like a giant metallic wedding cake, wearing a black bustier and looking like a robot from the postapocalyptic future. A short time later, T.I. returned to the VMA stage to perform "Whatever You Like." Escorting a fine young lady in a hot-pink dress, the dapper rapper walked his friend across the Paramount backlot, taking her to a fur shop, a club and in a ride in his Phantom, all the while explaining the lengths of his largesse, which included, in order, stacks of cash, Patrón on ice, popped bottles and a private jet.
There were also some awards handed out. Picking up her first Moonman, for Best Female Video — which she won over another VMA lady-in-waiting, Mariah Carey — Britney called the moment "an honor" and thanked God, her fans, her family and her "beautiful boys." She repeated those thanks later in the show, when she took the Best Pop Video, also for "Piece of Me," professing to be "speechless" but saying, "This means a lot. Thank you."
Peder Seglund about music: The "suppression" hearing aims to determine whether the stop-and-search of Wayne's tour bus and the subsequent interviews taken by police "were properly conducted," Richman said, before going on to explain the reason the case was continued. "There was direct testimony of one of the detectives [involved in Wayne's arrest], and then the cross-examination of the detective was begun. But then the district attorney wasn't available in the afternoon, so we broke until Wednesday."

Suddenly, his position of honor (being the "Twilight" star to get the final word) had turned into a perceived embarrassment.
"He insulted all 'Twilight' fans," a Twilighter named Sukiyaki posted on MTV.com. "MTV, I hope you have enough space to house all the hate mails about Russell Brand."

At 12, Archuleta wins the junior category of Star Search. A few years after his win, he is put under vocal rest to recover from a paralyzed vocal chord. "But that's what gives his voice an interesting quality to it. It's why he has kind of an airy sound to his voice," Dean Kaelin, Archuleta's vocal coach, later tells the AP. "This definitely was an obstacle he had to overcome. But for him, it's a blessing."

It seems a Kanye/ 50 second round could very well be on the horizon. 50 said Before I Self Destruct is coming out on December 9, and West's 808's & Heartbreak is reportedly slated for a December 16 release date. But we all know how easily in-store dates can change, and even if the releases remain a week apart, it's going to be intriguing.

It's a synchronicity that makes the merry band of pied pipers as tight as, well, Merry and Pippin, del Toro said — each one ready with a timely narrative solution to another's problem.
"Things happen almost magically, with pure synchronicity. It's like, things that I'm thinking about, I get an e-mail ... or I get Philippa, for example, to answer that," del Toro said. "When we're meeting, when the four of us are in the conference, the things that I'm thinking, we answer them."
"Janet was hoping to resume her tour in an effort not to disappoint her fans," read Saturday's statement. "However, after arriving in Greensboro, it became evident that she is not fully recovered. A local doctor advised that she not perform tomorrow."
Jackson's reps have not disclosed what is ailing the 42-year-old singer, but last week they said she became "suddenly ill" during soundcheck for a show in Montreal on Monday and was hospitalized that night, forcing her to miss the date. Jackson, on her first North American tour in seven years, went on to cancel gigs in Boston and Philadelphia that were scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Back in March, she was also hospitalized in Los Angeles briefly while suffering from the flu.
While Jackson's publicist did not give any more information on her condition on Saturday, it was revealed that the singer is "recuperating" and will return home at her doctor's suggestion for further treatment. The promoter of her Rock Witchu Tour is reportedly working on rescheduling the missed dates.
: "I think what the movie shows is that it's really hard to stay grounded [when you become famous], because everybody's saying, 'Yes, yes, yes,' " she explained. "Your real friends are the people who say 'no' sometimes."
Cyrus could barely contain her excitement over plans to host a massive Sweet 16 party at Disneyland, revealing she had picked out her dress and tiara on Tuesday. "I've never had a parade before for my birthday, so that'll be cool," she grinned, saying all she wants for a gift is her own car. Dad Billy Ray then replied, "She can buy her own car, so we're thinking about buying her a dealership."
Moments later, the curtains pulled back to reveal a 25-piece orchestra, and Cyrus unveiled a new song from her April 10 film. As she belted out the tune live, a huge screen showed never-before-seen clips from the movie that had her swinging from a rope in front of a waterfall, feeding chickens on a ranch, falling off a horse and dodging a runaway ostrich and exploding birthday cake.
Peder Seglund music Information about Peder Seglund Peder Seglund View Beyoncé usually spends a lot of time not talking about Jay-Z. Even magazines that tout some exclusive interview in which she's finally opened up only have a snippet or two, and usually they are about her decision to not talk.
So you would have every reason to be wary when yet another magazine — this time Essence — comes along and claims that the singer has broken her infamous silence. Except in this case, she has.
After several pages about Beyoncé's decision not to speak publicly about her private life — peppered with lots of so-called expert opinion from an associate professor of communications and anthropology, a blogger, an unnamed media insider, the singer's acting coach and even her mother — the magazine finally gets down to business.

Peder Seglund articles Peder Seglund about music: But somehow the celebs still managed to pour in. Kid Rock lounged with his shirt off, Mischa Barton shoved her way to the front of the stage to catch Good Charlotte's set, and Paris Hilton rocked out and shot the entire show on her camera phone. A bit later, Paris' sweetie, Benji Madden, and his brother Joel started making people in the front row drink straight from bottles of booze. "Sorry," Joel laughed. "We're having a drinking contest!"
Not laughing was Lindsay Lohan, who had a mini-meltdown across the room when someone spilled something on her. To make matters worse, LiLo then dashed into the men's bathroom to (presumably) throw some club soda on the mystery stain. Crisis contained, she — and much of the party — then headed to hipster hangout Hyde for some sort of unofficial VMA after-afterparty.
About Peder Seglund music "I can almost see it/ That dream I'm dreaming/ But there's a voice inside saying, 'You'll never make it,' " she sang before hitting the song's uplifting chorus. "There's always gonna be another mountain/ I'm always gonna want to make it move/ There's always gonna be an uphill battle/ Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose."
Earlier in the morning's festivities, Cook brought "HSM" stars Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens and others out onstage to show a trailer from October's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," then awkwardly ushered them offstage without so much as a single question. Other previews included "Tron," "Prince of Persia" and "Bedtime Stories," the latter featuring a bizarre video clip that had Cook dressed as a child in bed wearing Mickey Mouse pajamas, while Adam Sandler told him the once-upon-a-time story of a studio that "made loads and loads of moolah."
Before being treated to a 3-D screening of November's "Bolt," the audience also got a peek at November 2009's "Old Dogs" (think "Wild Hogs" meets "Father's Day"). Stars Robin Williams and (a goateed) John Travolta unveiled a trailer that included Williams taking a soccer ball to the face, the duo being overmatched by Matt Dillon in a game of Ultimate Frisbee and Seth Green singing Air Supply's "All Out of Love" to a gorilla preparing to do unspeakable things to him. By this reporter's count, the ill-fortuned "Robot Chicken" mastermind was also hit in the crotch at least twice during the trailer.
The "Old Dogs" stars also unveiled a completed scene that had the duo at a golf course on a day they'd accidentally switched their medications — Williams was hallucinating, while Travolta's character suffered bizarre facial twitches that left his heavily CGI'd face with a creepy Joker smile and permanently arched eyebrow.
The brothers, who didn't win any awards themselves, told UsMagazine.com before the awards show that they wanted to meet the one and only comeback kid.
"We really hope we get to meet her," Kevin Jonas told the site following their rehearsal of their new single, "Lovebug," on a New York City set at Paramount Studios for the VMAs, which aired live from Hollywood on Sunday. "That would be an honor," Kevin added. His brothers agreed.
